What are the fastest-growing job titles and most-searched industries on LinkedIn? Quality manager and defense and space, respectively, according to data provided by the professional networking site.  

“Social media provides a unique insight into employment trends,” says Lindsey Pollak, Gen Y career and workplace expert, and LinkedIn campus spokesperson. “This information is interesting as we think about 2010.” 

To help identify trends, Pollak asked her colleagues at LinkedIn to compile data about user interest and activity in industries. Following is what they unearthed: 

Fastest-growing job titles on LinkedIn:

• Solution architect
• IT manager
• Application developer 

Most-connected industries (LinkedIn members in these industries have the most connections):

• Online publishing

• Venture capital
• Wireless
