BETHLEHEM, PA—The top positions for business graduates from the Class of 2013 were various analyst and manager roles, according to a new report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
NACE’s January 2014 Salary Survey—the final report on starting salaries for the college Class of 2013—found that professional, scientific, and technical services employers hired a large number of business majors for positions such as accountants and auditors, management analysts, and marketing sales analysts.
Manufacturers also accounted for a large portion of the jobs secured by Class of 2013 business grads, hiring them for positions such as general and operations managers, industrial production managers, and logisticians.
Among the other employers that hired large numbers of 2013 business graduates were those in federal, state, and local government (financial managers, miscellaneous managers, and human resources workers); finance and insurance (financial managers; financial analysts; and claims adjusters, appraisers, examiners, and investigators); and management of companies and enterprises (management analysts and human resources managers).
As a group, business graduates received starting salaries that averaged $55,144.
An executive summary of the January 2014 Salary Survey report is available at www.naceweb.org/salary-resources/salary-survey.aspx.
NACE’s first report on starting salaries for the college Class of 2014 will be published in April.
