Frequently Asked Questions about the
Annual Conference
Q. Who do I call to reserve a hotel room?
A. The 2009 NACE Annual Conference and Exposition will be held at Caesars Palace. NACE has reserved a block of rooms at Caesars Palace, with a nightly rate of $175 + tax per night. Reservations can be made online at the Caesars Palace web site, or by calling 866/227-5938. Use group code SCNAC9 to receive the NACE room rate.
Q. Am I able to get NACE's discounted room rate for dates before and after the 2009 Annual Conference?
A. Depending on availability, the group rate is available three days before and after the meeting. We can not guarantee availability of the pre- and post-conference rates.
Q. How do I get more information about area attractions?
A. There's always something to do in Vegas! Shop your heart out, see a show, or explore the culinary wonders of Las Vegas. There’s something for everyone. Visit the official Las Vegas tourism web site.
Q. What should I wear to the conference?
A. The NACE conference is set in a relaxed, professional atmosphere. Attire for the conference is business casual. Meeting room temperatures can be cool and the climate may vary, so it is recommended that you wear layered clothing for comfort. It is common in Las Vegas hotels to walk 10 to 15 minutes from your room in order to get to the conference rooms. Caesars Palace is a large facility. Wear comfortable shoes!
Q. As a NACE member, do I save any money on my registration?
A. You'll save between $200 to $470 on your registration as compared to nonmembers. Another way to save is to register while the early bird rate is in effect. The earlier you register for the meeting, the more you save.
Q. My boss is the NACE member. Can I attend at the member rate too?
A. Yes. Any staff member located at the same office as a NACE organizational member can attend the 2009 Annual Conference at the member rate.
Q. I’m a student. Is there a special student rate?
A. The student conference rate is available to students pursuing a career in either career services or human resources. You must be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours per term, and cannot be employed full time.
The student rate includes the following: full access to exhibit hall, keynote addresses, and concurrent session workshops; two lunches in the exhibit hall; reception on Wednesday evening in the exhibit hall.
Q. Where can I get a registration form for a colleague?
A. We have a registration form online that you can print and fax or mail to NACE. Your payment must accompany your registration.
Q. I cannot attend but my colleagues can. What do I do?
A. You can transfer your registration to a colleague at no charge. Call NACE (800/544-5272, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays) to make the arrangements or give your registration confirmation to your colleague to have the registration transferred at the conference.
Q. I need to cancel my registration. Can I get my money back?
A. All cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations before March 1, 2009, are subject to a $75.00 administration fee. Cancellations received from March 1 through April 13, 2009, will be refunded 50 percent of the registration fee. Cancellations received after April 14, 2009 are NOT refundable.
Q. Can I get NBCC/HRCI Credits for attending the Annual Conference?
A. The National Association of Colleges and Employers is recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors and the HR Institute as qualified to offer Continuing Education Units for National Certified Counselors and credits for PHR/SPHR. Some of the presentations and workshops will be available for recertification credits. Check at the registration desk for details and forms. A PDF version of presentations and workshops eligible for credits and recertification will be available a few weeks in advance of the conference.
Q. Will handouts be available for sessions this year?
A. No, NACE will be paperless in 2009. Presentations will be available for download before the meeting at a special web address provided to registered attendees a few weeks in advance. You may review the handouts, print those of interest, and bring them with you to the meeting. You will also have a great portfolio provided for note taking at the conference.
Q. Will there be facilities to print handouts on site?
A. The business center at Caesars Palace can print handouts, but you will be charged a fee to print each page.
Q. Can I reserve a seat in a specific session?
A. No, seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis for seating—and space is limited in each session. The Las Vegas City Department Fire Code is very strict and we cannot accommodate more people in any of the seminar rooms than the rooms are set for.
Q. Will there be an audio archive of sessions available?
A. YES! NACE will offer an online archive of most sessions at the conference for $99. This archive will provide you with the audio and handouts in one convenient online location.
