Hosting an Employer RoundtableGeneral Information
NACE Employer Roundtables enable NACE employer members and prospective members involved in college relations/recruiting and staffing to discuss the latest issues and challenges, trade problems and solutions, and build their professional networks.
You can play a lead role in this networking event by serving as a host of these small group discussions.
Who attends: There are typically 20 to 30 participants at an Employer Roundtable. NACE invites its employer members and relevant others in and around the host organization's area to attend the roundtable. NACE sends out invitations by e-mail approximately seven weeks prior to the roundtable. (Note: We are also happy to issue invitations to employer organizations that the host identifies, providing the host can supply appropriate contact information.)
*At this time, NACE is not offering any college or affiliate member roundtables.
Roundtable format: Employer Roundtables are designed to provide employers with an opportunity to exchange information, ideas, and opinions. They also provide a forum through which members can express their needs to NACE. The format is relaxed and informal. Each roundtable is facilitated by one of NACE's field services staff members. Roundtables typically run from 8:30 a.m.-Noon.
Materials: A few days prior to the roundtable, NACE will ship materials (typically, articles from NACE publications and tent cards indicating the name of each participant) to your attention.
Follow up: Participants are asked to complete a questionnaire when they register. After the roundtable, NACE will provide all participants with results from those questionnaires along with a list of participants to promote additional networking.
Host responsibilities:
- Arrange for adequate facilities at your location. Roundtables typically run from 8:30 a.m. - noon or 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.(We recommend that the meeting room be set up in a "U" shape, if possible.)
- Provide a flip chart and markers.
- Furnish NACE with specific directions to your facility. NACE includes these directions in its invitation to attendees. Please include parking and check-in information.
- Hold roundtable materials for NACE roundtable facilitator. (A NACE field services staff member will serve as the roundtable facilitator and will distribute the materials to participants.)
- Optionally, you may want to provide participants with coffee and/or
a continental breakfast or an afternoon snack.
