Director of Membership and Marketing
Overview:
NACE, a leader in career-related products & services for the college employment market, seeks experienced individual with a demonstrated record of success to lead our membership and organization wide-marketing initiatives. Member of the NACE Management Team with direct responsibility for membership marketing. Leads the development and execution of organization-wide marketing strategy and serves as team leader for the internal marketing team. Duties include analyzing and measuring all marketing activities with appropriate tools and managing the membership and marketing budgets.
Responsibilities:
1. Direct Membership Services
- Develop marketing strategy to maximize membership growth and retention
- Create and implement membership recruitment and retention plan.
- Develop marketing campaigns including writing promotional pieces.
- Oversee the design and development of membership marketing web pages.
- Identify and implement strategies to increase member engagement and loyalty.
- Create specific membership metrics, monitor trends, and provide reports on a quarterly basis.
- Develop and administer a membership budget in excess of $1 million revenue.
- Monitor membership categories and dues structure/pricing in accordance with the NACE Strategic Plan.
- Develop policies affecting membership dues, membership categories, and bylaws as they affect membership.
- Conduct member research including needs and satisfaction studies.
- Direct implementation of new or enhanced products/services to meet member needs.
- Lead a staff of five. Supervise, train, and develop membership staff.
- Oversee and improve member/customer service interactions.
- Oversee and improve records management, mailing list sales, and affinity programs.
- Design and participate in specific events to promote NACE membership.
- Interact extensively with executive director, management team, and staff.
- Interact extensively with Board and volunteers; work with volunteer committees as appropriate.
2. Oversee Organization-Wide Marketing Strategy
- Develop overall strategy to include branding, value proposition, and positioning statements.
- Coordinate NACE’s marketing schedule.
- Lead weekly marketing team meetings including creating the agenda and taking minutes.
- Provide input on all advertising and promotional activities upon request from project managers.
- Develop metrics for measuring overall marketing strategy. Monitor results of marketing campaigns.
- Review web analytics weekly and oversee search engine optimization.
- Manage NACE’s marketing budget.
- Monitor NACE’s image in all print and online communications.
- Identify and oversee market research studies as needed.
- Develop processes to gain feedback from members on a regular basis.
- Design and implement sponsorship/partnership programs to increase revenues.
- Organize NACE’s representation at trade shows and conferences. Select shows; select giveaways; identify collateral materials, oversee booth design, assign staff, and oversee shipment of materials.
- Coordinate marketing efforts with field services, communications, education, NACElink, and research. Interact with graphic designers and web group regarding NACE image.
- Identify and liaison with consultants as needed.
- Serve as point person for new business development inquiries.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minimum of five years experience as a marketing manager.
- Must possess an understanding of the rules and laws affecting a membership organization and the roles of the staff and volunteers.
- Must possess strong leadership and consensus building skills. Team player.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic marketing, advertising, market research, marketing metrics, staff and project supervision, budgeting, financial management and analysis, and short- and long-range planning.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and have well honed planning, time management, and organization skills.
- Ability to design and run marketing reports.
- Must possess excellent communications skills—written and verbal. Strong writing skills are required for direct mail campaigns (both electronic and hard copy).
- Strong computer skills and the ability to manage multiple activities of varying priority on a timely basis.
- Must have experience supervising on-site, remote, and contract employees.
- Ability to develop staff.
- Moderate travel required.
- Relocation not available for this position.

Research Intern
Part-Time (28 hours a week, flexible schedule)
Leading publisher of job market information seeks summer intern for research area. Duties include accurate data entry, responding to customer inquiries, and tracking requests. Must be detail oriented with basic math/computational skills. Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook preferred.
Basic Function:
Support NACE’s information area by: Assisting research director and employment information manager in producing, promoting, and managing NACE information resources, NACE surveys, and Salary Survey, Job Outlook, regional reports, and specially tailored reports.
Responsibilities:
1. NACE research: 65 percent
- Revise/update survey copy and communications as directed.Assist with data collection and management, e.g., enter survey responses into data base as directed.
- Support department research efforts to identify economic trends and information resources;
- perform background research to provide requested information and serve as “fact checker” to verify information;
- conduct research using the Internet and NACE resources as directed, e.g., cull past surveys for specific data as directed.
- Prepare survey materials for distribution as directed, e.g., generate labels.
- Assist in custom research projects as directed.
2. Employment information: 35 percent
- Assist in production of Salary Survey, e.g., key paper submissions, proofread reports, respond to participant requests, provide participants with relevant materials, as directed.
- Track and respond to participant requests to use Salary Survey materials, e.g., provide eligible participants with charts/graphs for their web sites.
- Assist in production of Job Outlook, regional reports, and specially tailored reports as directed.
- Respond to informational requests by members, Salary Survey subscribers, and the general public regarding NACE’s Salary Survey, Job Outlook, and regional and special reports.
- Update and maintain integrity of participant data base, e.g., follow up on contact changes, act on e-mail “bounce backs,” scan NACE data bases for pertinent contact information, etc.
- Assist in developing Salary Survey participant pool, e.g., identify schools to target as directed, contact and follow up with targeted schools.
3. Miscellaneous:
- Update and manage data base for Information Center requests.
- Perform additional miscellaneous tasks and assignments as directed.
