The NACE Coaching Fundamentals workshop provides coaching strategies and best practices to establish and conduct effective and ethical coaching sessions for clients. Attendees will learn strategies to create an environment that supports mutual respect and learn methods to communicate effectively during a coaching session. Attendees will use empowerment and positive reinforcement to create a coaching alliance.

Fred Burke, Director, Graduate Career Management Center
Fred Burke has 20 years of experience in higher-education career services. Currently, he is the director of the graduate career management center in The Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, part of CUNY (City University of New York).?Burke is the former executive director of The Career Center at Hofstra University, and the former associate director of career development at Vassar College. Before his time at Vassar, Fred worked in human resources, where he managed the college recruitment for Westfield Companies of Cleveland, Ohio. Burke began his career in the Career Planning and Placement Office at Miami University in Oxford Ohio, where he worked as an assistant director and career counselor.
Burke earned his B.A. in public communications from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY and his master’s in professional studies in humanistic education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. He joined the NACE Career Coaching Faculty in January 2016.

Knowledge Assessment: Upon successful completion and participation in the NACE Group Coaching Roundtable, named registrants who wish to receive a certificate of completion will be provided instructions to complete the online NACE Group Coaching Roundtable Knowledge Assessment. The assessment consists of 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions. Attendees scoring an 88 percent or better on the assessment will receive the NACE Group Coaching Roundtable Certificate of Completion. Successful completion of the roundtable and obtaining the certificate of completion can be used in part (4 hours) to meet the training requirements for the Board Certified Coach credential offered through the Center for Credentialing and Education.
