For the third time since its launch in 2014, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has reduced the annual Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) hiring benchmark. OFCCP has set the benchmark at 6.7 percent for this year.
The benchmark—which is updated annually—was 7.2 percent in 2014, 7 percent in 2015, and 6.9 percent last year.
OFCCP explains that it is intended for use by contractors who choose to set a VEVRAA hiring benchmark using the annual national percentage of veterans in the civilian labor force.
The agency further notes that, “Contractors who adopted the previous year’s national benchmark of 6.9 percent after March 4, 2016, but prior to this announcement, may keep their benchmark at 6.9 percent.”
