With students having returned to campus and the 2011-12 academic year under way, it’s a good time to see how your summer internship program fared. Following are several benchmarks from NACE’s 2011 Internship & Co-op Survey:
- An average of 39.1 percent of employers’ entry-level hires from the Class of 2010 came from their own internship programs.
- Responding organizations converted, on average, 57.7 percent of their interns into full-time hires, the highest conversion rate seen since NACE started tracking it on an annual basis in 2001.
- The rate at which employers offered their interns full-time positions was 66.7 percent in 2010.
- In 2010, 86.5 percent of interns offered a full-time job accepted it for the highest recorded acceptance rate.
NACE’s 2011 Internship & Co-op Survey was conducted January 15 – March 1, 2011. Taking part were 266 NACE-member organizations that hire college students for internships.
