Spotlight for Recruiting Professionals, October 12, 2011

Overall hiring for the college Class of 2012 is projected to be up in all regions, according to employers responding to NACE’s Job Outlook 2012 survey.

Responses indicate that the increase in college hiring will be highest in the Midwest, where employers expect to hire 18.5 percent more college graduates in 2012 than they did in 2011. Employers in the West also anticipate a double-digit increase—11.5 percent.

Southeast employers indicate plans to increase college hiring by 8.6 percent, while employers in the Northeast are looking to boost hiring by 6.9 percent.

The survey was conducted August 3 through September 23, 2011, among NACE employer members; 244, or 26.8 percent, took part. Details about the outlook for the Class of 2012 will be available through the Job Outlook 2012 report in October. The report will also include data about employer recruiting methods, skill preferences, and more.
