Maximize & Integrate Experiential Learning

  • Fee: $69 (member); $119 (nonmember);

Summary

At Trinity University, career services joined with experiential learning under the Center for Experiential Learning and Career Success in the spring of 2015. Career services continues to focus on employer relations, faculty relations, and providing career coaching and guidance to students, while experiential learning reinforces these connections by facilitating internship development, a summer research program, course-embedded projects, and service-learning initiatives. The resulting synergy positively impacts how both offices support and engage students, faculty, alumni, and employers by collaborating on programs, curricular initiatives, and employer engagement. Learn the challenges, successes, and opportunities experienced by the Center for Experiential Learning and Career Success as they integrate coursework, experiential learning, and career planning to prepare students to launch into successful careers.

Following this program, you will be able to:

  • Discover ways to engage potential partners to help further career services’ mission, e.g., Residential Life, International Engagement, Student Life, Parent Giving, Alumni Relations, and Entrepreneurship;
  • Determine the advantages of working closely with academic affairs, university administration, and campus partners; and
  • Discuss how experiential learning initiatives such as internships, course-embedded projects, student research, and service learning enrich and supplement the work of career services.
