  • Fall 2018: NACE Discussions With Association, Public Policy Leaders

NACE staff met with association and public policy leaders in Washington, D.C., in fall 2018 to discuss a range of topics. NACE representatives typically visit the capital in the fall to meet with counterparts at various associations and agencies to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Marilyn Mackes, NACE executive director; Ed Koc, director of research, public policy, and legislative affairs; and Alanna Suda, MWW, met with leaders from the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), and the U.S. Department of Education (DOE).

Talks with CGS and APLU focused largely on research, including outcomes-related studies, such as NACE’s First-Destination Survey, as well as the respective organizations’ student and benchmark surveys. At the DOE, the discussion centered around the gainful employment rules associated with the Higher Education Act and changes to the College Scorecard. Underpinning all of the discussions was the value of higher education.

Taking part in the discussions with Mackes, Koc, and Suda were:

    Council of Graduate Schools
    Robert Augustine, senior vice president
Lauren Inouye, vice president, public policy and government affairs
Hironao Okahana, associate vice president, research and policy analysis
Adrienne Vincent, associate director, corporate relations

Association of Public and Land-grant Universities
Denise Nadasen, director of research and public policy

    U.S. Department of Education
Diane Jones, principal deputy under secretary
