More Employers Hosting Their Own Virtual College Recruiting Events This Fall
BETHLEHEM, PA—An increasing percentage of employers will host their own virtual college recruiting events this fall, according to results of a recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
NACE’s August 2021 quick poll found that, for fall 2021, 67% of responding employers are planning to increase the number of Zoom sessions, virtual tours, virtual career fairs, and other virtual recruiting events they host, compared to pre-pandemic. Furthermore, 83% of quick poll participants indicated an increase in virtual recruiting as one of the biggest changes they made to their overall recruiting strategy during the pandemic.
“This increase in virtual recruiting activities by employers may be necessary with the delta variant surging in areas of the country,” says Shawn VanDerziel, NACE executive director.
“In fact, at the time of the survey, one-quarter of responding employers said they had travel restrictions in effect for the fall and another 40% were unsure about their ability to travel.”
This boost in employers hosting their own virtual college recruiting events aligns with other poll findings that show employers will make virtual assignments a permanent part of their overall internship programs in the future.
