First-Generation College Students: Supporting the Trailblazers on Your Campus
Description:
Navigating the career process is unfamiliar territory for many students, but it can be overwhelming for first-generation college students. Thus, the importance of considering impactful ways of serving all students, especially those in the hidden communities on our campuses, is paramount. Career services professionals need to consider ways to creatively reach out and support initiatives that educate and encourage all students to attain career success. Our University Career Center (UCC) partners with the campus committee for supporting first-generation college students. The UCC will share our methods to assess needs, collaborate, and implement initiatives to directly address the needs of first-generation college students.
