Applying Design Thinking to Diversity & Inclusion Literacy
Description:
Design thinking has been used in product design and by businesses to develop solutions. In addition, design thinking has recently been used by individuals to create innovative professional and personal goals. This workshop explores design thinking and how to apply these concepts to diversity and inclusion literacy for career services and university relations/recruiting professionals. We will explore the concepts of intersectionality and racial literacy, as coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw and Lani Guinier. Self-reflection and interactive exercises will empower attendees to apply design thinking to their self education around diversity and inclusion for the purpose of better supporting new hires and students.
