Making the Connection: Increasing Student Engagement in Career Development by Leveraging Industry Practice
Description:
Career professionals regularly deliver career development content through individual appointments, classes, and workshops to enhance students’ career readiness. Developing activities that speak to each student’s personal career goals engages them more effectively but increases staff time and strains resources. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has addressed this issue by transforming traditional activities and presentation methods in order to actively engage students on a large scale while simultaneously increasing student’s confidence in their own career competencies. This presentation examines three transformations in career programming. Participants will engage in student exercises and evaluate the applicability to their own campuses.
