Career Readiness for All: Creating Programming for Students With Disabilities
Description:
Individuals with disabilities face higher rates of unemployment, but how do we engage students with disabilities in career preparation to overcome this discrepancy? With colleges being a primary recruiting ground for companies, career services can lead the way by engaging students with disabilities in preparation for the transition from academia to the work force. Learn about the variety of programming we have implemented to engage our students, employers, and other stakeholders. Following this session, participants will know trends in disability hiring, learn common barriers to students with disabilities finding employment, and leave with methods to better support this niche student population.
