Building a Humanities Classroom for Career Readiness: Faculty-Career Center Partnership
Description:
Humanities professors want their students to get jobs, but they may need some support in understanding how to assist. We will report on a ground-breaking project at Miami University (Ohio) in which faculty in English, History, Philosophy, and related fields infuse client-based projects into their classes, showing how core disciplinary skills translate into real-world applications. Working with their peers, participants will generate additional examples of “applied humanities” projects, and share their insights on the challenges and advantages of building a faculty–staff partnership.
