Practical Steps to Easily Enhance Your Candidate Experience With Data and Science
Description:
The best campus selection processes assess relevant capabilities objectively in a flexible and engaging way to address the needs of candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. Easier said than done, right? Gartner found that 65% of candidates have “cut short the hiring process because they found aspects of the job (e.g., work-life balance, development opportunities, company culture) unattractive" (Gartner, 2020 Candidate Survey). Recruiters simply can’t afford to let a poor candidate experience drive unintended consequences. Regardless of whether you are working at a data-driven organization, it’s easier than you might think to approach your candidate experience with as much scientific rigor as your marketing colleagues might apply to their next outbound campaign. How exactly can campus recruiters shift from “set it and forget it” candidate workflows to frequently updated and optimized candidate experiences? And can they do it all while generating better business outcomes? This session will take a behind the scenes look at the journey of one employer and couple it with market relevant insights to help every campus recruiter think more proactively about ways to easily leverage readily accessible data to positively impact their candidate experience. Our two interactive and engaging speakers will bring a wealth of insight, knowledge, and experience to the discussion, sharing best practices on implementing a data-backed approach to enhancing the student hiring experience. Attendees will hear directly from the global head of recruiting of a Fortune 100 employer about their campus recruiting transformation and how the student experience was their North Star throughout their change journey. The speaker will share insights about the lessons they gleaned from their candidate listening tour results, actual new hire outcomes that they measure over time, and the virtualization of their 2020 global internship program (now a Harvard Business School case study). Our second speaker brings 16+ years of HR best practice insights and expertise and will share quantitative and qualitative research around the competencies that differentiate today’s students – qualities that make them attractive to employers, and how and when employers should consider measuring those qualities. Drawing from their combined practical experience, data-based insight, and actual new hire outcomes measured over time, the speakers will provide a blueprint for thinking about innovative approaches to enhancing the candidate experience. They’ll also warn of potential pitfalls that might arise along the way and give guidance for addressing them. Campus recruiters will leave with actionable tips that can immediately create a more valuable experience for every student applicant, and career services professionals will benefit from the insiders view into a key employer’s student and intern hiring programs.
