Increasing Equity: Teaching Students of Color to Tap Into the Hidden Market
Description:
The Kaleidoscope Program at Carleton College is a professional development series for emerging professionals of color that includes a second-year cohort-based initiative focused on a scaffolded, social capital creation curriculum. Students are then able to cultivate agency in their career search and tap into the hidden internship/job market. Learning Objectives: Articulate two key tenets of a scaffolded, step-by-step method that provides students of color permission, guidance, motivation, and accountability to create and increase social capital from scratch. Name two practices to support and encourage social capital creation for students of color on your own campus. Identify two strategies to embed equity practices as part of a comprehensive career education program.
