    • Summary

      How can the gap between employers and STEM students be narrowed? If organizations are going to be inclusive, they must include the backgrounds, challenges, achievements, and needs of students who have marginalized identities and experiences in higher education. This session will explore common misconceptions, interactive needs, and benefits of hiring diverse employees in STEM with purpose. Participants will discover ways employers can become digitally engaged, interact with campus partners, and provide meaningful opportunities for long-term career success for future employees from diverse backgrounds.

      Following this program, you will be able to:

      • Participants will have a better understanding of connecting employers and students through relationship building, shared values, and consequences;
      • Participants will use human development to increase digital engagement and diverse student retention strategies for employer-based programming; and
      • Participants will gain foundational knowledge to establish DEI initiatives for STEM employers to hire, retain, and recruit diverse students.
