    • Summary

      As COVID-19 began to disrupt internships, full-time jobs, and the economy in general, it became clear that the Class of 2020 was going to need additional assistance to launch their careers after graduation. With that in mind, the Cawley Career Education Center at Georgetown University launched a five-part initiative to assist students to learn new skills, network with alumni, and build their resumes. One pillar of the summer initiative was the Georgetown Summer 2020 Virtual Immersions and Experiential Work (VIEW) program. This session will take you through the design, implementation, and execution of the first micro-internship program at Georgetown University. Post-program survey data, lessons learned, best practices and strategies, and immediate takeaways for participants will also be discussed.

      Following this program, you will be able to:

      • Effectively communicate with alumni who are not in the practice of acting as employers;
      • Prepare students on how to participate in a virtual internship; and
      • Explore key concerns when developing a virtual internship program.
