Spotlight for Career Services ProfessionalsMarch 19, 2014
Although the average salaries for eight of nine career center staff positions climbed in 2013-14, the salaries remained relatively flat from last year, according to results of NACE’s 2013-14 Career Services Benchmark Survey.
Average salaries for five of these eight positions increased by less than $1,000. However, the other three had relatively sizable gains.
Marketing coordinators saw the largest increase—nearly $5,000—to their average salary. Directors, the highest-paid career services staff members, earned an average of $3,200 more this year, while the average salary for technical coordinators jumped more than $2,300.
In terms of experience, directors have an average of 16 years—most among career center staff. The only notable change was for career information specialists, whose average dipped from eight years of experience last year to five this year and perhaps explains their drop in average salary.
Data for the 2013-14 Career Services Benchmark Survey were collected from September 2013 through December 2013, with 881 NACE members participating in the survey, for a response rate of 44.1 percent. Details about the survey are available at www.naceweb.org/surveys/career-services.aspx.
