Students who engage in career exploration and decision-making early have more time to participate in multiple professional experiences, enhancing their overall career management abilities and affording them the ability to experiment and reset when needed; ultimately, this means more confident, informed career decisions. Advisers with a focus on early career engagement from Texas A&M University and William & Mary will discuss best practices to increase the involvement of first- and second-year students in career exploration and development to impact long-term student success. Participants will gain tangible strategies to implement from key programs, workshops, newsletters, campus partnerships, and communication strategies.
Following this program, you will be able to:
- Recognize best practices when engaging first- and second-year students;
- Develop strategies to implement first-year engagement programming and practices on one’s own campus; and
- Identify partners and communication strategies across campus to impact early career engagement efforts.
