  • Summary

Join Laura Thibodeau and Sarah Mackler, Merrimack College, to explore the Professional Development Retreat, a distinctive program that illustrates the institution’s commitment to its students’ success and impact of the college’s network. The Retreat is a testament to cross-campus collaboration and, in turn, brings social capital to students by helping them connect to greater institutional networks.

Following this program, you will be able to:

    • Identify key elements of the “soft skills gap” found in higher education and provide tangible next steps for action and engagement.
    • Differentiate ways to engage students in the development of soft skills, emotional intelligence, and social capital; and
    • Evaluate means used to foster relationships and collaboration with various stakeholders such as faculty, staff, alumni, and employers.
