    During the summer of 2020, some employers canceled their internships while others pivoted internships due to COVID-19 and budget concerns. While students stood with organizations in their decision making, a study by Ivy Research Center found that 89% of students would rather have a virtual internship than have it canceled altogether. This session will explore ways to leverage virtual internships with on- and off-campus partners to provide students the necessary experiential learning needed to advance their career development. The leveraging process will include conducting a needs assessment to create a virtual internship, the hiring process, measuring effectiveness, and building an impactful experience for all stakeholders.

    Following this program, you will be able to:

    • Design and leverage virtual internships with on- and off-campus stakeholders, including employers/alumni;
    • Craft and execute a meaningful virtual internship for the student and employer, including hiring, onboarding, and supervision; and
    • Measure and implement work completed through a virtual internship.
