On-campus recruiting methods and services offered by the career center figure prominently in the ways that employers recruit their interns and co-ops, according to NACE’s 2019 Internship & Co-op Survey Report.

More than 95 percent of employers responding to the survey use career/job fairs and job listings posted on career center websites to recruit candidates for their internship and/or co-op programs. On-campus recruiting (92.1 percent) and on-campus information sessions (89.0 percent) follow closely behind. (See Figure 1.)

Employers report that additional campus activities—including outreach to student groups (85.6 percent) and cultivating key faculty (82.4 percent)—are also popular recruiting methods for interns and co-ops.

Data for the 2019 Internship & Co-op Survey Report were collected from December 3, 2018, to February 22, 2019, from NACE employer members; there were 262 respondents representing 28.2 percent of all eligible respondents. The report will be available later this spring.
