Career Services to support undergraduate women in tech: What works, what doesn’t and what still needs to happen
Description:
In the US, women make up only 21% of computer science graduates annually despite comprising 58% of all college grads. Tech industry recruiters and talent development teams say they're prioritizing gender diversity and yet women are similarly underrepresented in the tech workforce. The disparities are even starker for historically marginalized groups of women — particularly Black, Latina, or Native American. The Career Services function is the nexus between industry and higher ed and therefore has the potential to be the point of greatest interaction and innovation in support of women trying to get a foothold in the tech industry. This session will share a summary of our survey research and perspectives on gender equity in tech and potential future directions for career services
