NACE Organization Overview
The National Association of Colleges and Employers (formerly known as the College Placement Council, Inc.) is America's bridge between higher education and the world of work and, as such, spans three constituencies:
1,800+ member universities and colleges from across the United States (and their career services professionals);
1,900+ employer organizations (Fortune 500 service and manufacturing companies; fast-growth, medium-sized, and start-up companies; and, federal, state, and local governmental agencies--and their HR/employment professionals who recruit college graduates and experienced professionals; and
1 million+ college students and alumni who use and rely upon our publications and services every year.
Human resources and college career services professionals know us best as the principal source of information on career planning and employment for the college-educated work force. NACE provides research and information through annual employer/college surveys, quarterly surveys of starting salary offers to new college graduates, a quarterly journal, and a biweekly newsletter. We also forecast trends in the job market; track legal issues in employment, the job-search, and hiring practices; and provide both college and employer professionals with benchmarks for their practices.
Students, on the other hand, know us best for our Job Choices publications...the most recommended job-search and career guides for today's graduates and alumni.
Important, too, is our affiliation with six regional associations of colleges and employers; these associations provide local linkages, training and development for career and employment professionals, and various event-driven networking/recruitment/career-oriented opportunities.
As part of NACE's commitment to provide leadership in the ethics area and to facilitate the ongoing dialogue on ethics-related issues, the Principles for Professional Conduct document was established. A committee made up of representatives of each of the seven regional associations oversees the document and acts as an information clearinghouse for various ethical issues arising within the profession.
