Welcome to the NACE Communities, the professional, knowledge-based, online discussion groups sponsored by your association, the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
The purpose of the NACE Communities is to encourage discussion within specific interest areas, with the goal of keeping online discussions targeted to the needs and interests of the subscribers. There are five Community groups to choose among. NACE Communities are open to all staff members at NACE member offices. You must register for each Community you wish to join.
All the commands you need to join any of the Communities are included on this page.
Web-Based Access
Everything you need to do to register and participate in a community can be done online through the NACEWeb Communities areayou can subscribe, talk to fellow Community members and read their messages to the group, change your subscription e-mail address, unsubscribe, read the archives, or change your settings at any time.
How to Join a NACE Community
Staff members in any NACE member office may subscribe to the NACE communities.
To subscribe or to leave a community, click on the name of the community below or go to the page that lists all the communities.
Enter the required information (your e-mail address, your name, and your password) and click on the subscribe button. (If you use the same e-mail address and password for every community you join, you will be able to make changes to all your subscriptions at once.)
Note: Use the same e-mail address and password for all your subscriptions. Doing so will make it easy to set all of your subscriptions to "no mail" when you go on vacation or reactivate your subscriptions when you return.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation when your subscription is approved by the list administrator.
Subscribe to CommunicationsShare ideas, concerns, or questions about your career center’s communications efforts. Possible topics include use of new media; thrifty advertising/marketing techniques; developing greener publications; challenges of communicating with millennial students, nontraditional students, and garnering the attention of on-campus media.
Subscribe to GlobalTalkExpand your horizons by sharing issues, trends, questions, and solutions to recruiting on a global scale, visas, international students, and American graduates abroad.
Subscribe to JobPlaceShare career exploration and development ideas, research, techniques, and tips, including experiential education programs such as internships and cooperative education with colleagues from other colleges and universities.

To reply to a message, click on "reply" and type your message
into the top of your e-mail. When you are finished typing your messageand
have added your signaturego through the text below your message
and delete everything except enough of the message you are replying to,
to remind readers what you are discussing.
Using the NACEWeb Interface
The online interface allows you to read messages online, search the archived messages, send a message, or change your subscription data. Choose the group you want to enter by clicking on the name of the community link under "Enter the Communities" in the upper right-hand corner of this page.
Enter your e-mail address and your password to go to the online community interface.
Use the navigation bar at the top of the community page to complete your
task.
Messages
Read: To read messages in the community, click on "message" in the navigation bar. To read a specific message, click on the subject of the message.
At the bottom of each message, you can choose to "reply" to
a message. Click on the reply box and add your message on the next screen.
Click on OK to send the message.
Send a New Message to the Community
Click on the blue box that says "create a new message" in the upper right-hand corner of the messages box.
The next screen will allow you to put in your subject line (please use
one!) and your message. Don't forget to add a signature to your message
so that your colleagues know to whom they are speaking.
Search
Search: To search the archives, click on "search" in the navigation bar at the top of the page. Use keyword(s) to search the archives. An advanced search is also available for narrowing your search results.
Messages retrieved by the search will display in a text box at the top of the page. Search results are displayed in chronological order with the newest posts appearing first.
To re-sort your search results, use the arrow keys next to Date, Subject, or Author. The up arrow sorts in ascending order; the down arrow sorts in descending order.
Select the messages you want to read by clicking on the subject line.
Use the back button on your browser to return to the search results screen.
My Account
Update your subscription: Click on "my account" in the upper navigation bar. A small box with two navigation tabs will appear. The first screenthe essentials tabwill allow you to change your e-mail address and choose the way you receive your e-mail messages.
To change your mail options, select your choice from the drop-down list.
- No e-mail (if you plan to participate online only, choose this setting);
- Normal (individual messages as they are sent to the community);
- Digest (one message each day contains all the messages sent to the group that day); or
- Mime (individual messages as they are sent to the community in MIME format); or
- Index (a list of subject lines from messages sent to the community).
When you are finished, select "Save Changes" at the lower right side of the gray box.
The advanced tab will allow you to change the password on any or all subscriptions. Type in the password you want to use. Use the drop-down arrow next to "apply changes" at the bottom of the box to choose whether you want to apply changes to your data to just one community or to all communities using the same e-mail address and password.
When you go on vacation you can set all your subscriptions to "no mail" at the same time. When you return from vacation, you can reactivate all of your subscriptions at once.
When you are finished, select "Save Changes" at the lower right side of the gray box.
My Forums
If you click on "my forums" in the navigation bar at the top of the page, you can see all your subscribed communitiesand unsubscribe from any/all if you would like.
All Forums
This navigation button will allow you to see all the communities NACE sponsors and subscribe to those you don't hold a subscription in.
Include a descriptive subject linelike a headline of what you plan to sayso that other Community members will want to read your message. Note: NACE does not allow attachments to messages sent to the Communities. Plain text messages are required. If you send a message that is written in "Rich Text Format," it will be rejected. Instructions on how to change your settings just for this address will be sent with the rejected message.
