The National Association of Colleges and Employers invites you to give New Orleans a helping hand!
Join NACE staff and your colleagues in building homes in New Orleans through Habitat for Humanity. Volunteer dates are Tuesday, May 27, 2008 or Saturday, May 31, 2008. Our construction project will help provide decent, affordable housing to families in the New Orleans area. The site will be new construction. No experience is required!

How to register
Conference registrants and family and friends (over age 16) are invited to participate. Registration will close on May 8, 2008 or when we reach capacity.
First step: Read the information for volunteers.
Second step: Complete the registration page.
Third step: Complete the Waiver of Liability.
Fourth step: Fax or send your registration and Waiver of Liability to NACE, 62, Highland Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017-9085, Fax: 610/868-0208; Attention: Maria Kaczmar. You will get an e-mail confirmation of your registration when your registration is processed.
Fifth step: Bring your $25 donation check (made payable to Habitat to Humanity) along with you to the registration desk at the Marriott. NACE will provide you with further information closer to the event.
Cancellation Policy: We will not offer refunds of contributions for cancellations or no-shows. Please do not volunteer if you aren't serious about participatingwe'd like to send the maximum number of people allowed to the work site!

Volunteer Waiver Form
Please return the waiver form with your registration. No one will be allowed to participate without a signed waiver form.
You will receive an e-mail confirming your registration. Cancellations must be made in writing, two weeks in advance of the conference. Your donation to Habitat is not refundable.

Can I work both days?
Sure! Volunteer for one or both days. Please clearly mark you registration
form.
Do I need to register?
Yes. You must register using NACE's Habitat Project form and complete a waiver to join the NACE work party. Participation is limited to the first 100 who sign up for each day. Registration will close on May 8, 2008, or when we reach the limit of volunteers for that day. On the day of the event, you will be asked to contribute $25 when you get onsite. (Make your check payable to New Orleans Habitat for Humanity.) Do not mail your donation to NACE. You do not have to be a volunteer to donate to Habitat. NACE will send additional information about your tax deductible donations closer to the date of the Annual Conference.
Why does it cost me to volunteer?
Your contribution assists Habitat in providing housing for those in need.
Can I help if I am not a NACE conference registrant?
The project is designed for NACE conference registrants as well as their
friends, spouses, partners, and family members.
Do I need to know anything about construction?
No experience is required. Everything you need to know will be explained
on site.
Can I participate even though I have some physical
limitations?
Yes! All sorts of skills and abilities are required. Some tasks involve
heavy lifting; some can be performed with less exertion (e.g., painting,
hammering, finish work). Homes are at all stages of the construction process,
from foundations and framing, to finish work. Assignments depend on what
needs to get done that day, weather conditions, your physical condition.
What should I wear?
Shoes need to be sturdy, closed-toe, and closed-heel. Boots or sneakers are considered appropriate footwear, but boots are preferable. Wear weather-appropriate clothing. Sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses are a good idea. Bring a water bottle and plan to drink plenty of fluids during the day (NACE will provide bottled water). Temperatures at the end of May/early June in
Should I bring food or water?
NACE will provide bottled water throughout the day and a boxed lunch.
If you have special dietary needs or allergies, please
note it on the registration form!
Should I bring tools?
You may bring your own tools if you wish, but it isn't necessary. If you
do bring tools, please label them.
How do I get to and from the work site?
NACE will provide transportation between the Marriott hotel and the work
site.
What if I have allergies/asthma?
New Orleans Habitat for Humanity worksites are new construction, and therefore
pose little risk for mold allergies. You should, however, take into account
the humidity, heat, and abundance of plant life. Bring any medication
you need with you and take breaks when necessary.
