    The NACE Coaching Diverse Populations workshop examines the specific needs of diverse student populations with the understanding that coaching strategies must be appropriate for the population served. Specific student populations include veterans, students with disabilities, alumni, international students, and LGBTQ student populations. This workshop will provide a theoretical framework of coaching fundamentals and strategies coupled with interactive exploration of student scenarios and case studies.

    Following this program, you will be able to:

    • Summarize steps to establishing an effective coaching session;
    • Use helping skills to promote coaching alliance;
    • Create an approximate timeline for coaching services and establish a comprehensive coaching plan; and
    • Identify existing factors affecting the coaching process: client support system, attitude and social.

    Cancellations
    You can receive a full refund less a 5 percent administrative fee if you cancel your registration at least 15 days prior to the beginning of the Career Coaching Intensive Workshop. Your request must be in writing and should be directed to events@naceweb.org. Cancellation requests made less than 15 days prior to the start of the event/program are not refundable. However, a credit equal to the value of the cancelled registration will be issued and will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue.     This one-day program incorporates facilitated discussion, guided activities and group work to create a stimulating and engaging learning experience.
    Dr. Katharine S. Brooks, LPC (Texas), BCC, NCC, Evans Family Executive Director of the Career Center, Vanderbilt University
    Dr. Katharine S. Brooks
    Dr. Katharine S. Brooks has been in the career services field since 1986. She is currently the Evans Family Executive Director of the Vanderbilt University Career Center. Prior to this role, Dr. Brooks was the Executive Director of the Office of Personal and Career Development at Wake Forest University, Director of Liberal Arts Career Services at The University of Texas at Austin, and the Director of Career Services at Dickinson College.  She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC-Texas), a nationally certified counselor (NCC), and a board certified coach (BCC). She is the author of You Majored in What? Mapping Your Path from Chaos to Career, which is being revised for a new edition to be released in Spring 2017. She also writes a blog, “Career Transitions” for Psychology Today. She has a doctorate in educational psychology and a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from West Virginia University. Her bachelor's degree is in sociology and anthropology from Gettysburg College.
    Continuing Education Credit Hours:
    BCC – 7.5 clock hours per session.
    ICF – 7.5 clock hours per session.



    BCC Knowledge Assessment: Upon successful completion and participation in the NACE Career Coaching Intensive, named registrants who wish to receive a certificate of completion will be provided instructions to complete the online NACE CCI Knowledge Assessment. The assessment consists of 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions.

    Attendees scoring a 88 percent or better on the assessment will receive the NACE Career Coaching Intensive Certificate of Completion. Successful completion of the workshop and obtaining the certificate of completion can be used in part (7.5 hours) to meet the training requirements for the Board Certified Coach credential offered through the Center for Credentialing and Education.
