Members are NACE’s best and most important asset. There are many ways that member talent can be tapped, including committee work and Board service.
Serving on the Board or a committee requires a significant amount of time, but can be very rewarding. Not only are these opportunities to help shape the direction and development of your association, but also both offer you the opportunity for personal and professional growth. Leadership, communication, and organizational skills are among the skills you can build in service.
Each fall, NACE announces a call for nominations for the NACE Board of Directors. Members are encouraged to nominate colleagues for various roles and are also encouraged to consider self-nomination.
The NACE President determines which committees will be needed to meet goals for the year and support the association’s strategic plan. Although there are some standing committees, most are formed to accomplish a specific task, and, once that task is completed, the committee is disbanded. Consequently, there may be more committees one year than there are the next, and the range of opportunities varies accordingly.
The NACE President determines the specific charges and goals for each committee, and selects committee members from the pool of volunteers. Typically, the call for volunteers for NACE committees goes out in the spring. Committee members are appointed for a one-year term commencing July 1.
