    • Summary

Internships play a key role in the employment of new college graduates, providing employers with an effective means for developing a strong talent pipeline and students with an avenue by which to confirm career direction, build relevant skills, and connect with potential employers.

But internships are only a win-win if they’re done “right,” and questions abound:

      • Do internships really improve post-graduate outcomes?
      • Is completion of multiple internships beneficial for the student?
      • What makes or breaks an internship for the student?
      • What criteria do employers use to select interns? Are these the best criteria?
      • How can organizations leverage their internship programs to maximize recruiting efficiency?
      • Should employers source through open or direct application?
      • What is the best way to measure the value of the internship program for the employer? For the student?

Following this program, you will be able to:

      • Implement solution-focused strategies to address current challenges and improve organizational outcomes related to internships;
      • Discuss industry trends and their impact on the way we work with and recruit students; and
      • Explore predictions for the world of work in an ever-changing landscape.

Join NACE for the first NACE Internship Summit and dive into your most pressing challenges—as identified by you! The NACE Internship Summit is not your “regular” workshop: Content and speakers will be developed through crowdsourcing and selected by you and your fellow NACE members.

      Identify the Challenge

Using a crowdsourcing approach, the following have been identified as the top five challenges:

      1. Marketing Internships to Students and Gaining Buy-in
      2. Conversions (Interns to Full-time Hires)
      3. Developing Quality Experiences
      4. Managing Expectations
      5. Streamlining the Process (Students and Employer)
