Summary

NACE’s Individuals Serving & Recruiting Hispanic, Latin@X, and HSI Students Affinity Group will host a panel of employer and university members, who will address upcoming graduates' concerns about the job market. Panelists will share best practices, market and hiring updates, and advice for recent graduates entering the job market during the current economic climate.

Luis Amaro, Co-lead Servg Hispanic, Latin@X & HSI students, Noviam Inc
Luis Amaro’s career in graduate recruitment spans 14+ years, during which he has successfully launched graduate talent teams across multiple global organizations. During his career, he has built and scaled university partnership teams globally, leveraging his experience to help universities give students the tools they need to access careers across various industries. His extensive background in sales enables him to share insights with students about the skills businesses are seeking in emerging talent, while also helping hundreds of students network with Fortune 500 companies and access jobs they would not have had access to previously. Since joining NACE, he has volunteered to co-lead different affinity groups, committees, and subcommittees, including the Individuals Serving and Recruiting Hispanic, Latin@X, & HSI Students Affinity Group; the NACE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee; and the HBCU Subcommittee for Employer Relations. In addition to his work with affinity groups and committees, he has also participated in numerous NACE webinars as a panelist and moderator. The opportunity to continue learning from his fellow NACE members, as well as the opportunity to continue working toward equitable outcomes for graduates, continue to be the main drivers behind his commitment as a NACE member. Born in the United States to a Colombian mother and Dominican father, Amaro's global perspective and commitment to inclusivity have led him to channel his passion for equal access to opportunities. His altruism shines through as he volunteers his time to support students and faculty in schools across North America, particularly focusing on underresourced communities.

Kathleen Gomez, Career Counselor, Manhattan College
In her role as STEM Career Counselor at Manhattan College, Kathleen Gomez serves the students from the School of Engineering and School of Science to identify, explore, and embark upon their career paths. She uses a student-centered approach to support students as they strategically navigate their career development. Gomez meets adolescents and young adults where they are and creates pathways for their professional development. Prior to joining Manhattan College, she worked in various K-12 settings, providing academic, social-emotional, and vocational interventions and programs. She is also passionate about helping first-generation students and has a great deal of experience serving the Hispanic/Latino community. She received her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Valley Forge and her Master of Arts in Bilingual School Counseling from NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.

Scott Coleman-Allan, Director, Global DE&I Talent & Strategy, Wiley Edge
Scott Coleman-Allan is an accomplished HR professional with more than 12 years of expertise in talent acquisition and DE&I (diversity, equity, and inclusion) strategy. Throughout his career, he has worked with a variety of organizations in the United Kingdom and the United States, focusing on optimizing talent acquisition processes and implementing effective DE&I initiatives. Currently serving as the global director of DE&I, talent, and strategy at Wiley Edge, Coleman-Allan plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's approach to attracting, recruiting, and retaining a highly diverse population of college graduates. In this capacity, he spearheads the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance diversity and inclusivity within the organization. With a strong commitment to creating equitable opportunities and fostering a culture of belonging, he is dedicated to building bridges and breaking barriers in the workplace. His insights and leadership in DE&I continue to make a positive impact on organizations, ensuring they cultivate diverse talent pools and thrive in an increasingly global and interconnected world.
