Scaling Up Engagement

Summary

How can you increase student engagement through meaningful interactions? How has the career cluster model at Rutgers University – New Brunswick evolved since its inception?

Five years ago, the staff from Rutgers University Career Services introduced their career cluster model. Join the staff again as they outline the growth of this program. Learn how career clusters have led to an increase in student engagement, integrated with peer-instructed first-year seminars, expanded mentoring programs, and launched various career exploration programs.

Attendees will be able to conceptualize the creation of a cluster model for use with their own students. In addition, they will explore how to organize workload and programming to increase engagement.

Following this program, you will be able to:

  • Develop an industry-centric career cluster model;
  • Construct a plan to further incorporate career exploration principles into a first-year student seminar; and
  • Assess how a career cluster model can assist your office.
