For students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), the job-search process presents a unique challenge with too few success stories, as many adults with autism are unemployed or underemployed. Through defining ASD and how it is recognized, and delving into best practices, this presentation will provide an overview of student and employer support throughout the hiring process. With diagnoses increasing each year, cross-campus collaborations and education for employers about the benefits of hiring this student population are critical.

Kelsey O'Rourke, M.A., Assistant Director, Employer Relations, University of Dayton
Kelsey O'Rourke is the assistant director of employer relations at the University of Dayton. Previously, she was a career services coordinator in the Engineering Career Resource Center at the University of Michigan. She has worked in higher education for six years, in both academic advising and career services. O’Rourke is currently serving as the director of finance for the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers.
Kerri Boivin, M.B.A., Director, University of Michigan – College of Engineering
Kerri Boivin is director of the Engineering Career Resource Center (ECRC) at the University of Michigan. Boivin joined the ECRC in 2005, became the director in 2009, and has worked in higher education and career services for more than 18 years. As director of the ECRC, Boivin serves all undergraduate and graduate students in engineering and computer science. She holds a dual B.B.A. in marketing and operations management as well as an M.B.A.. Boivin is the 2017-2018 president of the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers.
