Colleges and universities have a collective responsibility to prepare all students, regardless of their background and social capital, for successful careers. The model of career education at most universities is a service that is merely offered to all students. But it needs to be one that actually reaches and ensures the career preparation of all students. The best way to ensure we reach all students is to intentionally integrate career education into the academic experience.
Join Robin Darmon, senior director of the Career Development Center at the University of San Diego, and Lauren Payne, director of the Malone Center for Career Engagement at Furman University, to discuss how USD has integrated the “Career Readiness Program” (CRP) into their curriculum to provide a customized experience for undergraduate students in all three colleges and how Furman’s “Integrated Four-Year Pathway” is intentionally designed to prepare all students for accelerated professional and community impact throughout their four years at Furman. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to share best practices for integrating career readiness into the academic experience at their respective institutions.
