  Are you interested in gaining the coaching skills and strategies needed to help your team provide effective coaching for all levels of clientele? Join NACE at their Virtual Coaching for Empowerment event!

  Participants will examine appropriate reinforcement techniques throughout the helping process, and gain understanding of a nonjudgmental approach in the coaching process, modeling acceptance, facilitating openness, and demonstrating self-awareness.

  Course Content Areas

  • Understanding empowerment;
  • The coaching process, the impact of questions, and listening skills; and
  • The role of equity, belonging, and unconscious bias in the coaching process.

  Following this program, you will be able to:

  • A discussion about understanding systemic inequalities, power imbalances, and barriers faced by all of us;
  • Examination of the definition of unconscious bias, strategies to be aware of one’s own unconscious bias;
  • Examine the role of the coaching process, fundamentals of building rapport with coachee, acutely listening, being present in the moment to listen to what the coachee is saying;
  • Identify what are the qualities and skills of an inclusive coach? What are safe practices that are developed in the coaching relationship?;
  • Examine appropriate reinforcement techniques throughout the helping process. Understanding of a non-judgmental approach in the coaching process, modeling acceptance, facilitating openness, and modeling self-awareness.

  During this full day webcast, presenters will deliver a synchronized audio and PowerPoint presentation through direct instruction. Participants will have time for live Q&A throughout the program and may be asked to contribute opinions or feedback via live chat, virtual polling, and other mechanisms.

• Presenters

  

  Fred Burke, Director, Graduate Career Management Center, Baruch College

  Fred Burke has 25 years of experience in higher-education career services. Currently, he is the director of the Graduate Career Management Center at The Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, which is part of (CUNY) City University of New York. He has been an active NACE mentor for more than 10 years and was the NACE Mentor of the Year in 2019. Burke also has been active in a variety of NACE committees and served on the NACE Board of Directors from 2017 through 2019. Currently, he serves as a faculty member for the NACE Career Coaching Program.

  Knowledge Assessment: Upon successful completion and participation in the NACE Ethics in Coaching Roundtable, named registrants who wish to receive a certificate of completion will be provided instructions to complete the online NACE Ethics in Coaching Roundtable Knowledge Assessment. The assessment consists of 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions.

  Attendees scoring an 88 percent or better on the assessment will receive the NACE Virtual Coaching for Empowerment - October Certificate of Completion. Successful completion of the workshop and obtaining the certificate of completion can be used in part (4 hours) to meet the training requirements for the Board Certified Coach credential offered through the Center for Credentialing and Education.
