Join NACE’s AANAPISI Affinity Group as the group’s “Defining & Discussing the Asian Myth” session to gain insight into the Asian Minority Myth, the other stereotypes it generates, and how to mitigate them moving forward. This session will feature Christina Yang, general counsel and pro bono director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice Los Angeles.

Christina Yang, General Counsel & Pro Bono Director, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles
Christina Yang is general counsel and pro bono director for civil rights and legal services nonprofit Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles.  She provides in-house legal support and advice to the executive leadership team regarding general business operations, compliance, and risk management.  She also cultivates volunteer involvement programs for attorney and non-attorney volunteers to expand the reach of the organization’s services and deepen the private sector’s relationships with Advancing Justice-LA.  Finally, Yang oversees the organization’s bystander intervention training program, which provides concrete tools for allies to safely intervene to help those who are targeted by anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment.    Immediately after law school, she spent a year with Advancing Justice-LA's impact litigation unit, on a deferral fellowship funded by Mayer Brown LLP, and returned to the firm's Los Angeles office to practice with the general litigation group after that.  She also spent time with the in-house team at AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a global nonprofit HIV/AIDS advocacy group.  Christina is a graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania and is a past president of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles County.
