  • Summary

    The General Education department at the CUNY School of Professional Studies offers asynchronous online classes in a variety of subjects to an adult population interested in completing professional degrees to further their careers. In collaboration with administration, faculty, and instructional designers, the department implemented a curricular map of workplace competencies across 12 courses over a period of three years, including math, science, social science, and liberal arts subjects. In this interactive webinar, we will help participants brainstorm and plan the integration of career readiness at both course and program levels, as well as showcase our most effective online curriculum interventions. A worksheet will be provided to help attendees plan and integrate career competencies at the course or program level.

    Following this program, you will be able to:

    • Understand from a top-level view how to integrate career readiness into a variety of classes and subjects within a single department;
    • Develop strategies to engage faculty, foster collaboration, and offer departmental support; and
    • Implement instructional design techniques for promoting career readiness specific to the online classroom.
