  • Summary

    Inspired by the #1 Wall Street Journal bestseller, "Building a Story Brand" by Donald Miller, the Carnegie Mellon University Career & Professional Development Center has been leading the way with employer experience by implementing the story brand script framework and positioning employers as the heroes of their own recruiting story. Attending this session will give career center staff an advantage to not only attract employers but also to retain them by helping conquer the obstacles that keep them from success.

    The session is centered around understanding employers' recruiting needs through their external, internal, and philosophical problems. Presenters engage participants throughout the presentation and challenge them to think about the challenges their employer population face and how they can provide the support needed to close the story loop.

    Following this program, you will be able to:

    • Discuss how to use marketing, as well as data, to help visualize who the employers were before and after they interacted with the career center;
    • Prepare and teach attendees how to implement their own brand script; and
    • Provide effective ways to attract employers who use career services.
